…Licking the thumbs to wipe the cold away
I remember when I was a shorty and on Sunday morning’s momma had us get all dressed up in our Sunday’s Best to go on off to Sunday School.. I remember how she would re-brush my hair after I told her I already did it, fuss about me wrinkling up my clothes cause I couldn’t sit still, and tormenting my little sisters as they got their hair pressed in the kitchen….lol and just before she sent us out the door she would give each of us ( my two sisters and I) a dollar a piece to put in the collection plate and as she did that she would take lick her thumb and wipe that cold out the corner of our eyes and we would look like presentable little people off to hear the Good Word..lol
Its raining here in the city……
I love Rainy mornings….just something about them. Yes, it may be hard as hell to get up and come to work, but for some reason on rainy mornings I always tend to wake up a little bit early, before the alarm clock goes off….I love the peace and quiet that the rain brings and to me its like when Momma used to wipe the cold out of our eyes…this is God’ s way of doing the same thing…
I got up this morning at like 4:30 and it was coming down pretty good. Didn’t turn on the T.V. just went and opened up the front door and sat on the front porch and listened to the rain come down…it was peaceful and calm. I sat there thinking about all that has happened to me and what is happening in the world around us…the everyday hustle and bustle that we call life. The sun had not made it up it so it was still pretty dark outside and for the first time in a long time, I didn’t hear police sirens, ambulance sirens, or look across the park to see some hype or homeless person sleeping on the park benches…Just peace and quiet…it was nice…really nice…
Even on the drive to work, the traffic was light…I guess alot of folks took the day off to make it a long weekend…I kept the radio off and just listened to the windsheild wipers and the rain hitting windows…”I think its gonna be a good day” is what I kept telling myself all the way to work…
I don’t have any big plans this weekend. Its supposed to rain the whole weekend… and that fits right into my plan of sticking to the budget so I will probably be in the crib cleaning up and chilling…the Direct TV guy is coming out tomorrow to replace one of my recievers and I have a showing for the property in the morning so after that I plan on being posted up at the crib….enjoying how God wipes the cold out of the world’s eyes..
Have a Great Weekend…
In a minute…

Glad you’re back I was getting bored when you weren’t posting when I came in to work.
I feel you on that! I always pull out an old CD when it rains to listen too on my commute to work. Managed to find “Mista”. He He Listening to Lady. Awwwwwwwww and Rain hitting the windows. It’s gonna be a great weekend when I leave this place at 10:30 am to go get my hair done and then home to………chill. Have a great weekend.

I love the comparison. It is going to be a good day, a good weekend. How could it not be, when you put it in that perspective?
P.S. My mother used to give us money for collection, too. It never made it to the basket, though. We’d sneak out of church and buy nachos and sodas with it. I know, a heathen from young. LMAO
Happy Friday, Kel!

Rainy days are so calming to me. Love the story about “wiping the cold from your eyes”. Many a day my mother used to do the same thing when I was a child.

I’m the total opposite. Rainy mornings make me not want to get out of bed at all. But rainy nights on the other hand…

That sounds sooo peaceful… getting up that early and sitting on the porch and listening to the rain come down. Ahh… I would love to do that… if I could DRAG my lazy bed-loving ass out of bed before 7:00 to do it…and the rain always makes it that much worse!!!
